Diversity – it’s what makes us unique. It’s what makes our community and society richer. Personally, I love diversity. I love talking to people different to me and figuring out what makes them tick – what they like and what they don’t. It opens my eyes to new experiences, thought processes and opportunities.
As a mortgage broker, every day I’m talking to different people. They’re buying property for different reasons, wanting different types of homes, different features in their loans – different goals, aspirations and lifestyles – and I love it!
It teaches me never to assume what someone wants or why they want it. It makes me questions things rather than guess and it makes me better at what I do.
One night, flicking through Facebook, I came across this great tool that got me thinking about diversity. It tells you the diversity of the suburb you live in. Check it out here. I love that I live and work in suburbs that are categorised as either diverse or highly diverse. It tells me that I’m in the right place.
So with Mardi Gras on Saturday, I encourage you to celebrate the diversity that our fabulous city, residents and visitors have to offer. Stay safe and have fun!
